Sarah W. Saueressig, Executive Director

Sarah joined the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation as Executive Director in October 2006. Prior to joining the Foundation, Sarah spent seven years serving as the Community Relations & Projects Manager for a national cellular phone company. She served as a manager of Economic Development for the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of the local volunteer community having served on several non-profit boards and committees. Sarah and her family moved to Manhattan in 1990. She earned her B.S. in Mass Communication from Kansas State University. She and her husband, John, have three sons. In her spare time she teaches a youth religion class, serves as the regional director for a girl's camp, and enjoys spending time participating in her family's many activities.


Elaine Dhuyvetter, Assistant Director

Elaine joined the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation staff as Assistant Director in April 2008. Just prior to beginning her job with the Foundation, Elaine spent over ten years working for two local credit unions. First for the Kansas Farm Bureau Employees Credit Union as Assistant Manager. When that organization merged with K-State Federal Credit Union, Elaine moved into a job as Marketing Manager. Elaine also has experience in curriculum development and youth education. She and her family moved to Manhattan in 1995. Elaine and her husband, Kevin, have two sons and one daughter. When not attending her children’s many activities, Elaine enjoys quilting, reading and taking long walks.


Laurie Ekart, Administrative Assistant

Laurie joined the Manhattan Community Foundation as Administrative Assistant in July 2006. Prior to joining the Foundation, Laurie spent over 29 years working for the Kansas State University Foundation beginning as a receptionist for the Alumni and Endowment Association offices. She moved on to working in the planned giving department for 17 years, and was administrative assistant to two Presidents at the Foundation. She has experience in trustee relations as well as development work, spending the last four years working at the College of Veterinary Medicine in the development office. Laurie and her husband, Jim, do not have children but do have pets Louie, Roxy and Lucy. Laurie enjoys reading mysteries and working on all kinds of crafts.
