Don't Scroll Past This... (Yes, That's the Point)

Posted Monday April 20, 2026

If you’re reading this, my marketing worked.

And that’s exactly the point. The real question… would someone stop scrolling for your post?

Being intentional with your content can make a big difference. Here are a few common marking mistakes to avoid, plus a quick checklist at the end to review before you hit "post".

Common Marketing Mistakes:

Posting without a goal

If a post doesn’t have a clear purpose, your audience won’t know what to do with it. Take a moment to ask yourself: What action do I want someone to take?

  • Add a clear call to action, such as: “Learn more”, “Register today”, “Support this work…”

Too much text!

When everything feels important, nothing stands out. Are you stopping to read long paragraphs while scrolling? Probably not. Large blocks of text can overwhelm your audience and get skipped.

  • Focus on the main idea
  • Keep it easy to scan
  • Lead with a strong first line or Title (...like how I got you to read this!)

Talk TO People Instead of AT Them

When your content feels like a conversation, people are more likely to engage and connect with it.

  • Make your audience feel included in the story
  • Use “you” language
  • Ask questions to invite interaction

Before You Post, Take 10 Seconds:

  • What do I want someone to do with this post?
  • Is the call to action clear?
  • Can this be understood at a quick glance?
  • Does it sound conversational?
  • Scroll test: Would I stop for this?

Strong marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. Keep it clear. Keep it intentional. Less really is more.
