Learning Together: Updates to GMCF’s Final Grant Reports
As part of GMCF's commitment to strengthening the impact of our grantmaking, we are introducing an updated final grant report for this summer. This change reflects a broader effort to better understand, measure, and learn from the difference our collective investments are making across the region.
In fact, one of the reasons GMCF created the Vice President of Impact Strategy and Grant Programs role was to build a more intentional framework for understanding community impact and using those insights to inform future grantmaking.
While we will continue to ask you to share information about the community members your organizations serve, the new report shifts the conversation beyond outputs and activities to include outcomes and learning. We want to better understand what your organization hopes to change through your work, how you know progress is being made, and what evidence you are seeing along the way.
The updated report will ask you to reflect on how the grant influenced your organization. Did the project change how you think about your work, your community, or your future priorities? These insights help us learn together and better understand what creates meaningful changes across our community.
This is not about creating more paperwork or collecting numbers for the sake of reporting. Instead, it’s about telling a more complete story of impact and creating a culture of learning that helps all of us do our work more effectively.
To support your organizations through this transition, I will be hosting Impact Reporting Office Hours during the months when Lunch & Learn sessions are not scheduled. These informal sessions will provide an opportunity to walk through the new report, discuss outcomes and evidence, ask questions, and explore practical ways to tell your org's impact story.
We look forward to learning alongside you and continuing to strengthen the impact we create together. The report will be available online and shared directly via email to all grantees that received a grant during 2025 over the next few weeks.
