Manhattan Basketball Association - 2024

Manhattan Basketball Association received a $4,000 grant through the YES! Fund to help fund its youth basketball programs, ensuring players of all backgrounds can access positive, affordable athletic experiences.

Through this support, the Association coordinated 13 teams during the season, offering critical services such as insurance coverage, practice facility rental scheduling, and scholarships to reduce financial barriers. Five scholarships of $300 each were awarded to young athletes, totaling $1,000 in scholarship assistance made possible by GMCF and the YES! Fund.

In addition to league play, the Manhattan Basketball Association hosted a community tournament on January 25, 2025. The event was organized and staffed entirely by board members and local volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to create a welcoming, competitive environment.

Approximately 235 athletes and 20 coaches participated in the program this year. This investment builds on the Association’s longstanding commitment to developing basketball skills and life lessons in teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. In past years, support from the YES! Fund has enabled the Association to expand scholarship opportunities, improve facilities, and strengthen outreach to underserved families, helping ensure that any child with the desire to play has the chance to step on the court.

Thanks to the continued partnership with the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, the Manhattan Basketball Association remains focused on growing the game, supporting young athletes, and fostering a community spirit through sport.
