25 Years of Impact: Community Foundation Awards

Posted Thursday April 4, 2024

Thank you to everyone who joined the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation for the Community Foundation Awards. We extend our appreciation to those who have contributed to the mission, vision, and success of your Community Foundation over the past 25 years.

This year’s CFAs was a special event that recognized and honored exceptional individuals and families who have been the cornerstone of positive change in our community. We also paused and celebrated the impactful life of Phil Howe. Phil was an integral part of the success of GMCF. He was a community leader, philanthropist, mentor, and caring individual who improved the lives of so many through his presence and generosity, especially through his match with Grow Green Match Day. His legacy will continue to inspire us all.

The Cornerstone Awards included five categories: Vision, Influence, Catalyst, Impact, and Legacy. Congratulations to the following Cornerstone Award recipients who dedicated their time, talent, and treasure to build a stronger community.

Vision – those who saw the potential of what a community foundation could do for Manhattan. Recipients were Bob & Tracey DeBruyn, Ed Seaton (deceased), Mark Knackendoffel, Jim Gordon, and Jim Morrison.

Influence – those who played an integral role in launching GMCF to success. Recipients were Terry Arthur, Tom & Angie (deceased) Fryer, C. Clyde Jones, Sue Maes, and Therese Miller.

Catalyst – those who inspire and drive transformative processes around them for GMCF’s benefit. Recipients were Dirk Daveline, Cheryl Grice, Jo Lyle, S. Lee Meigs, and Polly Stoecklein.

Impact – those who had a strong impact in making GMCF successful. Recipients were Neil Horton, Ward & Brenda Morgan, Dennis Mullin, Bill Richter, and Mary Vanier.

Legacy – those whose commitment to GMCF will be long-lasting and memorable. Recipients were the Butler Family, Coughenour Family, Deihl Family, Goldstein Family, and the Howe Family.

Thank you to our event sponsors and this year’s record number of attendees.
