Associate Foundations

An associate foundation is one that has its own 501(c)(3) status but still utilizes the Partner program through the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. Our associate community foundations are led by a board of local community leaders. These foundations coordinate fundraising efforts to develop grant-making resources for their community interest areas.

In addition to having its own board of directors, a partner foundation can have its own letterhead, checking account, and investment manager. It can even publish its own annual report. The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation provides investment management, fund accounting, and administrative staff support for each partner foundation. Partnering foundations through GMCF provide a simple, cost-effective way to ensure that the mission of your organization is not eroded by time and overhead.
