USD 383 - 2021

Posted Thursday June 15, 2023

In 2021, the YES! Fund supported the Manhattan Ogden schools within the USD 383 district by providing funds to enhance summer programs and after-school clubs. Among the clubs that received funding were the Model UN club, robotics club, STEM club, and the Autism Outreach program. These programs are committed to equipping students with new skills while fostering a safe and inclusive environment for their social growth.

Many of these programs had to adapt their operations in response to the health guidelines implemented after the pandemic. Virtual club meetings became the norm, allowing students to continue engaging while prioritizing their safety. Additionally, some clubs had to limit the number of participants to ensure compliance with social distancing measures. Despite these necessary adjustments, the YES! Fund's support remained instrumental in sustaining these valuable programs.

One notable activity that received support from the YES! Fund was the Future City Competition, where students from Anthony Middle School and Eisenhower Middle School participated. This STEM competition challenged teams of students to apply their mathematical and scientific skills to create a virtual city that reflects real-world principles. In preparation for the competition, students had the opportunity to learn about the various careers related to architecture, engineering, and land surveying. Through their involvement in the Future City Competition, students gained valuable insights into these professions while honing their problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

The YES! Fund's investment in the Manhattan Ogden schools has impacted the students' educational journey. By providing funding for summer programs and after-school clubs, the fund has enabled the acquisition of new skills and fostered a sense of community and personal growth within the students. The Future City Competition, particularly, served as a platform for students to explore STEM fields and expand their knowledge of potential career paths. The continued support from the YES! Fund underscores its commitment to promoting education and empowering students in the USD 383 district.
