Riley County Police Department Scholarship Fund

In 2013, the Riley County Police Department (RCPD), in conjunction with the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, established a scholarship fund to benefit the dependent sons and daughters of qualifying retirees and active or deceased full-time department employees.

The RCPD Scholarship Fund grew out of an Employee Fund which was designed to support employees during times of financial crisis. When the money donated by employees outgrew the department's needs, Director Brad Schoen created the Scholarship Fund. The fund currently supports four children or dependents with a $750.00 college scholarship. Students can renew their scholarships for up to three years if they meet the scholarship fund's GPA guidelines. These scholarships are made possible by the generous donations of RCPD employees, as well as contributions from community members seeking a way to say thank you to the department. The department hopes to grow the fund to the level that it can sustain four $1,000 renewable scholarships in the near future.
